No shame part 2

Yep, so I told you I’d be back for more. IKEA has a promo several times a year where they deduct your cafetaria bill from your furniture purchase of $100 or more. There’s no limit (trust me, I made sure to super double check lol) so for example, you can eat $300 worth of food and get it off your $400 purchase. Being as I wanted to buy furniture from there already, I figured I’d invite my gluttonous friend.

ikeafood.jpg

I don’t know, when I look at the picture I think that the amount of food doesn’t look as horrendous as it did in person…

He CLEARED the desserts, not leaving any left for the people behind us  People were staring at us like we were cray cray. It was so embarrassing lol. Two people with that much food. IKEA food is cheap as it is, and the total came out to be $73! I knew we weren’t going to finish all that so… I left, bought the IKEA tupperware set (which is only $4 by the way. Great deal! And they are microwavable!), went back, and we started wrapping the food with aluminum foil to take home. Did you know that IKEA provides aluminum foil for you to take your food home? I didn’t know that!

I kid you not, I broke a sweat just from quickly transferring the food into the tupperware. There was THAT. MUCH. FOOD. The employees saw us stuffing away and commented that we were smart, no one else has done that before. Uh yeah… “smart” code word for cheap? LOL!

SO if you’ve got IKEA furniture that you want to buy and have no shame for pulling something like this, try to wait for that free food promo, load up a bunch of food, put them in tupperware, and not have to worry about cooking for the rest of the week… or two ;)

I treated a friend of mine out for a meal for helping me move. He wanted to go to a buffet, it’s not my thing, but it was his treat after all so it’s his choice. When we got there, the place wasn’t going to open until one hour later, so I asked him if he could take me to Target because I needed to get a couple things. He recently purchased a new hybrid Nissan Altima (which is very niiice). I showed him the way to Target and I noticed that he was driving only 20 miles per hour. I ask him why was he driving SO slow and you know what he says?
“If I go over 20 mph my car starts using gas”
“So you’re just going to keep driving at 20 while everyone is zipping past you?”
“YES!”
And that’s exactly what he did. 20 mph all the way to Target… :???: LOL

When we arrive at Target, he notices that it’s right along the freeway and says,
“We could have taken the freeway this whole time?”
“Well I wasn’t sure if you wanted to take the freeway or surface streets. But if we had taken the freeway you would have had to use your gas…”
“Oh… yeah well it’s better that we took the surface streets then”
LOL

As we were leaving Target, he tells me that he has his laptop and books with him to take to the buffet. I thought he was joking when he told me he planned on staying there until they close. He wasn’t. So, I had him stop by my place so I could get some stuff to occupy myself with as well. WE ENDED UP SPENDING 4 HOURS AT THE BUFFET. At the beginning, he got some pudding and he liked it. Hours later, he grabs SEVEN puddings back to the table only to realize that he didn’t like it. According to him, they didn’t mix that batch well enough so it was nasty. It was definitely out of the ordinary for me and an adventure but I am NEVER doing that again!

Well, this weekend IKEA is having that special where they will deduct your bill at the cafeteria off a purchase of $100+ of furniture. There’s some furniture that I’ve been meaning to buy there but needed a second person to help me so I just invited him to take advantage of that offer. Will be interesting to see how much stuff he puts on his tray(s) LOL. To be continued!

Trying to redeem myself from the terrible excuse of pho I made a while ago (I’ve deleted the post, it was super ugly lol). Does it taste like pho? Um… I’m not sure lol.

Food: Pad Thai

I’ve been practicing on how to make pad thai. This was my first time trying to make the papaya salad too. I used a mixture of veggie fish sauce and sugar for the salad. That’s about it.

There is a good number of items that are “bigger” purchases, over $50, that I’ve been wanting. I’ve been limiting smaller purchases for a while now in order to have the funds for any of this stuff. I made an exception with my recent Sephora and Forever 21 hauls that I posted on Youtube recently because I wanted to treat myself. Just going to share with you the items I have been thinking about :)

Dyson vacuum for pets $500.
That’s nearly a month’s rent OUCH! I initially wanted a Roomba but that’s not going to be powerful enough for my messes.

Logitech MX mouse for computer gaming, editing and all that $80
My mighty mouse suuuucks. The kid at Best Buy tried to convince me into getting Logitech back then but I resisted because the Apple one was “prettier”

Canon PIXMA MG5220 $100
I was tired of having to plug in my notebook to the printer every time I need to print something. Now would be the perfect time to get this since Amazon is currently having a $30 off promo but now I’m not sure if I want to get it anymore since the apartment office has free printing and copying hmm….

I’m looking to get some small TV in the $200-$300 range. Just something I can have over my desk. I don’t watch TV and stream most of the stuff I want to watch online, but I miss watching CNN and Anderson Cooper is starting a daytime show soon… lol

Vanity Girl Mirror $300
I want the hanging mirror but am a little concerned about how stable it is. I’m already worried that my white board is going to fall down lol

TEMPTU Airbrush System $225
I’m looking at the amount I pay for my MUFE foundation and am thinking that I could have gotten a TEMPTU this whole time. I’ll have to be close to finishing all my foundations before I get serious about this one. Mmm airbrushed makeup everyday. How fierce would that be!

INGLOT eyeshadows $150
Yeah, I’m looking at getting like 30 :$: I love their eyeshadows and I’d swap my MAC shadows for INGLOT equivalents if I could. Bummed by their customer service though because I had a problem checking out and never got any response through Twitter or their contact form.

Last but not least, a tattoo by Mike Davis from Everlasting Tattoo in San Francisco. The man does amazing colour work and has also worked on Margaret Cho! There’s a bit of a story about my discovery of Mike Davis but I’ll talk about that later. I’m estimating what I want to be around $1000 but I haven’t actually started talking to him and had anything drawn up yet

New beauty blog!

I have created a new blog specifically for makeup, skincare, fashion, and all that jazz so people who just want to read beauty related posts don’t have to skim through pictures of veggie burgers lol. I designed the layout and coded it myself this time :) I have some background in HTML, it was the CSS and PHP that I had the most trouble with. I did have the opportunity to practice while tweaking around this blog as time went on. It’s embarrassing to say how long it took me to finish the beauty blog; I spent so much time reading tutorials, studying the coding of other layouts, and playing around with coding trying to figure things out. I hope I didn’t miss closing up a div or something like that lol. Overall, I’m pleased with the results. I was going for a vintage look for the design.

So now everything “beauty” related will be on the beauty blog. I’m slowly cleaning up posts and categories for this blog now that it’s no longer beauty related. This blog will now be my personal blog where I’ll feature more random things like… my dog, talking about music, TV, things I find amusing or funny, sharing opinions, and that sort of thing. Just random stuff that I feel like writing about and sharing. For now, my food posts will be on here but I plan to create a separate food blog in the far future when I’m up to designing another layout…

Alright, well the url of the new beauty blog is: itsliz89.com/beauty
I don’t have any new posts written up at the moment. I just want to show off my newly finished design for the blog. Go subscribe to the feed and join my Google militia!

Makeup photos from high school!

I found my old makeup pictures that I took while I was in high school. Everyday, I tried to wear a different look. I obviously don’t do that anymore because I really don’t have that kind of time to sit down every morning and think up of something new. I wouldn’t make a video on “makeup for teens” and do some simple neutral look because well… that’s not what I wore lol!

Most of these pictures were from when I was 16 or 17. I didn’t wear false lashes to school either, only for pictures. That pretty much still applies now as well. Some of these are really bad. My foundation didn’t match my body most of the time lol.

This was before I started experimenting with makeup. One of my friends gave me a smokey eye makeup pallete and I wore it to death! This is me freshman year. Not very much detail on the makeup but this is the only picture I could find  Poorly pigmented black eyeshadow swiped on the lids with Clinique liquid liner (was my fav) basically. I don’t think I even wore mascara?

This is what happens when your lashes are too long for your eye shape and you don’t cut them. The excess on the outer end makes the eyes look droopy!

This was my favorite look I did back then. Russian Red lipgloss :XO:

Me for Junior prom. I’m surprised my makeup looked alright in pictures because I had a deep shimmering gold for my highlight.
